Thermally Modified Box Beam

Our box beams are built from real hardwood that’s been thermally modified to dramatically reduce movement. The result is beams where seams stay tight and joints stay true, even through seasonal humidity and temperature swings. Compared to traditional lumber, thermally modified wood expands and contracts 5–10× less, which is why these beams hold their lines instead of opening up or twisting over time. They perform equally well indoors or outdoors and are backed by a Lifetime warranty against cupping, warping, and rot. Left unfinished, they develop a natural weathered patina fairly quickly, giving the look of aged wood; if you prefer a newer appearance, they can be sealed to hold their color for years with minimal maintenance.

Available in Cypress, Red Oak, White Oak, and Antique Heart Pine, with Smooth, Hand-Hewn, or Circular Saw (Dirty Face) finishes. We can produce beams from 4×4 up to 10×10 and in nearly any length needed, making them easy to fit everything from small accents to large spans.
